The market for honey is currently very strong. Locally produced honey and specialty honey have increasingly strong markets. Iran is one of the biggest producers of honey in the world. More than 71 million hives and 78,000 beekeepers are existed in Iran. Arthropod parasites such as Varroa mites as well as virus and bacterial infections, pesticide exposure, and poor nutrition are all related factors which threaten the survival of certain bee colonies worldwide.
